We use the term Servant Leader to describe our Leaders instead of the word volunteer because we are a Leadership culture where we are all learning to submit ourselves as servants to the Lord and to authorities in our lives. The word volunteer is not a biblical word and a Servant Leader has a very different heart than a volunteer, a volunteer has very different motives than a Servant Leader. A Servant Leader Leads him or herself by serving for the Kingdom of God to be advanced where a volunteer serves typically out of obligation or the thought that “they need me”. But the biggest difference is that a Servant Leader initiates where a volunteer participates. Servant Leadership at ELC is best described as A LEADERSHIP CULTURE where people who have a passionate desire to Think the best and to Be their best for God and others, and choose to do their best through Servant Leading at ELC.
